Ninth Generation of Honda Civic

Honda Civic was introduced in 1973 in the UK. It has completed eight generations and ninth is on the way. It has by no means been on the best selling vehicles list but about 65 million units have been sold because it has been launched. Ninth generation Honda Civic is an evolution of its predecessor maxidas 708, the primary change is the option of HondaâEUR(TM)s 1.6l four cylinder diesel engine, its first in that range. Honda is keeping their hopes up about the sales figures as it will fill the hole within the market that had been left empty by Honda for a long time.

The Look
The new Honda Civic has improved aero dynamics. Wheel arches have become curvy and the front and back overhangs are longer than the previous Honda Civic models giving it a smoother and sleeker look. The front is equipped with LEDâEUR(TM)s that run across, the materials and plastics used inside the cabin have an improved quality. Alloy wheels come as standard in all variants. Changes have been made to the digital dashboard to make it simpler. New Honda Civic comes in five doors only, a type-R hatch may be released later but there will be no three-door this time. the four trim levels of Honda Civic are SE, ES, EX and flagship EX GT.

Under the Bonnet
Honda engines offered in Civic are two petrol and two diesels. The petrol are 1.4 and 1.8 and diesel is 1.6 and 2.2. It could be the first car to be fitted with Honda 1.6 diesel engine which is expected to take the more share of the Honda Civic sales. The 2.2l is now more economical and meets Euro 5 standards with 148 bhp and 258 lbs of torque http://www.autelcn.com/maxivideo-mv101-with-16mm-medel-pid32. The carbon emissions are of 110 g/km with all the trim levels apart from EX GT variant with 115 g/km. Honda claims the 0-62 mph in 8.8 seconds. The car has 6 speed manual transmission and a combine economy of up to 67.3 mpg. The drive is very quiet and smooth.

The Cost
The Honda Civic will be available from £ 19,000. The 1.6l engine gives the Carbon emissions of 110 g/km. The Civics are famous for being reliable and this one is no different, you might forget the name of your mechanic it will take that long between two visits.

The Cabin
Honda has managed to exceed the quality and luxuy from its predecessors, but it is up to a certain limit. It has lots of air bags and has five star Euro NICAP rating. Honda has shown within the past that it knows how to make the most of the space. The perfect example is Honda Jazz, in new Civic the same technology is applied with a centrally fitted fuel tank that leaves a free space, the back seats can be folded flat electrical test tools. There is plenty of room for the passengers at the back and 487 litres of boot space. Overall Honda Civic 2012 is another leap to compete with its rivals, and after eight generations, Honda has finally introduced a model that is truly European customer oriented and meets their demands. It is now able to outrun Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra.

GLOW PLUGS

IIf slow cranking isn’t the problem, perhaps there’s something wrong with the glow plug system. Most passenger car and light truck diesels have glow plugs to assist cold starts. The glow plugs are powered by a relay and timer that routes voltage to the plugs for the prescribed number of seconds. When the timer runs out, the relay is supposed to turn off the voltage. But relays sometime stick and continue to feed voltage to the glow plugs causing them to burn out. One or two bad glow plugs on a V8 engine might not cause a noticeable starting problem during warm weather, but it can when temperatures drop.

Glow plugs can be checked by measuring their resistance or continuity. Excessive resistance or a lack of continuity would tell you the plug is bad.

If one or more glow plugs have burned out, are heavily coated with carbon or are not receiving their usual dose of start-up voltage, the engine will become progressively harder to start as temperatures drop, and will idle roughly and produce white smoke in the exhaust for several minutes once it finally starts. If all the glow plugs are burned on the end, you’d better check the injection timing because it is probably overadvanced.

To see if the glow plug module is providing power to the glow plugs, use a voltmeter to check each plug for the specified voltage when the ignition key is turned on. No voltage? Check the glow plug control module connections, ground and wiring harness. The glow plugs themselves can be checked by measuring their resistance. Replace any plugs that read out of specifications.

Hard starting can sometimes be caused by a glow plug module that fails to turn the glow plugs on or doesn’t keep the plugs on long enough when the weather is cold. On GM 6.2/6.5L diesels, there have been reports of heat from a still-warm engine causing the 125-degree inhibit switch inside the controller to shut off making the engine hard to restart. The cure here is to relocate the control module away from the engine. On Ford 7.3L diesels, the control module can cut off early if there are two or more bad glow plugs. We have also heard of control modules that do not keep the glow plugs on long enough for easy cold weather starting. The on-time is sufficient for warm weather, but not cold weather.
